- Don't launch your blog until it is properly setup.
Many people launch a blog, that is not fully setup. The Layout design may not be proper or the RSS feed may not be working correctly.So before you launch your blog make sure that your Layout design is complete, RSS feed is working properly ,you are setup to ping to the search engine or directories and your blog is optimized for search engines.Day 1 is the most crucial day because without launching with all these things in line it can hurt the future success of your blog.
- Choose a Unique topic and stick to it
If your blog is about trekking then stick to it.Dont try to include pages of ebooks or something like that,it will decrease your pagerank. And dont try to copy the content from another website, Search engine will be able to find out that you have copied the contents and there is every possibility that your pages wont get indexed.
Make a schedule and stick to it. Update your blog frequently.May be four times a week should be sufficient.The more frequently you update your blog ,the higher will be your pagerank. Don't blog daily and then skip a whole month.
- Communicate with your readers
Dont leave your readers stranded.Reply to the comments posted by the user or mail them or do both of them.It is very important that you communicate with the readers especially when your blog is new.

You may write a book on web guidelines,that's great but people will find it easy and more interesting, if it is short and is upto the point.Most of the time, readers dont like to read long articles , so keep it short and sweet.
Add some flare to your blog. Keep your readers on their toes by doing something unique, funny or something that should attract the readers. Whatever unique thing you do, it can really help keep your readers coming back for more.Add some pictures to spice up your blog.
Dont expect the world to visit your site , it takes some time for your blog to become popular.It may take a month or may be an year also.So be patient and try to update your blog frequently which will lead to improved page rank and thus to a lot of traffic .

hey!Y don’t u try using sharing mechanism like Tell-a-Friend so that visitors like us can easily share ur articles with frens thru blogs,mails,social networking sites, IMs etc. U can register in www.socialtwist.com to get the application.
Nice tips, most important thing is not to copy others content. I see most of the bloggers on blogspot do that. They copy contents from everywhere and setup their blog. that is a lame way of gaining popularity (and money, if you have monetized your blog).
